Offshore Fishing Report for Anna Maria Island: September 14, 2024

Good evening, offshore anglers! Tomorrow is set to be a great day for morning fishing, but plan to head back by the afternoon due to potential thunderstorms.

Weather and Conditions

  • Temperature: Highs of 87°F with partly cloudy skies in the morning.
  • Heat Index: Feels like 91°F, so stay hydrated and use sun protection.
  • Wind: Light at 5-6 mph, but increasing by afternoon.
  • Water Temperature: 84°F, ideal for keeping species like grouper and kingfish active.

Tides and Fishing Times

  • High Tide: 8:51 AM at 2.67 feet
  • Low Tide: 4:47 PM at 0.08 feet

Morning high tide is the best time to target grouper, snapper, and amberjack at Middle Grounds (28°30'N, 84°00'W). Egmont Key Reef will be excellent for kingfish and Spanish mackerel during these hours.

Moon and Tides

The First Quarter Moon will still have a moderate effect on the tides, ensuring good water movement for consistent fishing, especially around structures and reefs(TIDES4FISHING)(World Tides 2024 | TideTime.org).

Safety Tip: Thunderstorms are expected by 3-4 PM, so plan to return to shore early(TideChecker).
