As early as 1810, this cotton fabric came from Tahiti and left its impressions on many artists and traveled royalty. French painter Paul Gauguin painted many of his primitive lifestyle pieces with women draped in the bold and colorful pareos. As a forerunner to the traditional tapa cloth, pareo made its way to the shores of the Hawaiian islands in the early 1930's, and its unique hand painted likeness continues in this Duke's Pareo design, with subtle pineapple and floral imagery. Printed on the reverse side for a vintage look.

Our cotton broadcloth is a durable woven fabric. By having the reverse side of the fabric facing out, the prints' motifs and colors are softened. Special care is taken when printing to ensure quality and uniformity.
